Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign this weekend in search of their first league title since the 2003/04 season.
Last year was the closest they have come to winning it since the Invincibles, so can they go one better and lift the trophy?
Last season, Mikel Arteta’s side fought down to the final day, going within one game of the trophy with 89 points.
After the disappointment on the final day, the players look fired up to avenge that near-miss, showing no signs of a slump after going so close.
Going forward, the Gunners scored 91 goals in the last campaign, just five off champions Manchester City.
For all of the talk about shortcomings in the forward areas, Arsenal look better set for this campaign, with a fully-fit Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, a confident Kai Havertz, as well as Bukayo Saka who is still developing every season.
Arsenal had the best defence in the league and have strengthened with the signing of Italian international Riccardo Calafiori.
In pre-season, Oleksandr Zinchenko has looked closer to his normal self from when he first signed, and Jurrien Timber got some minutes in his legs before picking up a minor injury.
Arteta’s Arsenal is built on a strong defensive foundation and that will be the same again this season.
The Gunners won the Emirates Cup in their last pre-season game, beating Lyon 2-0 with goals from defensive partners William Saliba and Gabriel.
Arsenal relied heavily on set-pieces last season, so it is no surprise to see the goals flowing again this year.
Arteta named close to a full-strength side, which could well be his line up for opening day against Wolves.
The only real spots for contention are which two of Jorginho, Havertz and Jesus play, and whether it’s Martinelli or Leandro Trossard on the left wing.
Before Lyon, the Gunners beat German champions Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 at the Emirates with a strong first-half display.
Zinchenko, in particular, was outstanding, pinging balls into the forward line and even grabbing himself an excellent goal, likely cementing a spot in the starting X1 for the opener.
It all starts with Wolves at the Emirates at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
