Finchley’s Florian Marku has called on BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom to assign him a proper fight after easily defeating Dylan Moran, writes Ziad Chaudry.
In his first outing for over a year after recovering from a recurring hand injury, the 30-year-old welterweight stopped Irishman Moran in just 54 seconds of a scheduled 10-rounder.
Marku unleashed a thumping left hand and followed up with a flurry of head shots that left Moran, 28, struggling for survival before referee Mark Lyson signalled the end and a third loss in 21 outings.
And Marku, who appeared on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr’s revenge win over domestic middleweight rival Liam Smith at a near-sold out Manchester Arena, is keen to renew his long-term rivalry with Ilford’s Conor Benn, who was at ringside, Chris Kongo, and Scotland’s former undisputed world light-welterweight champion Josh Taylor.
Ireland’s Stevie McKenna, 26, revealed his desire to face Marku after watching his victory from the comfort of his own home and boasts a 13-0 record after stopping Zimbabwe's Brendon Denes in four rounds at Wembley's SSE Arena in February.
And the flamboyant Marku was keen to point out Moran was not to his high standard of opponent and pleaded to BOXXER paymaster Shalom on Sky Sports to provide better opposition.
“It feels great and I've been working so hard for this fight for my comeback,” said Marku.
“I want these big fights but people keep avoiding me. I want these big names. I want Conor Benn, Kell Brook, Josh Kelly - bring me someone I can show what I can do.
“It was a frustrating year. Respect to Dylan Moran but I’m on a different level. My coach Grant Smith, we put hard work and he knows me. He believes in me and he knows what I can do when I'm focused.
"When I’m focused I’m dangerous for everyone in this division. I showed it but please give me one proper, proper, proper fight and you'll see what I’m going to do."
