Greg Wallace has been dropped as ambassador of an autism charity as allegations of inappropriate beheaviour against him are investigated.

The MasterChef presenter faces various allegations of making “inappropriate sexual jokes” and complaints about his behaviour and has apologised after saying the accusations came from “a handful of middle-class women of a certain age”.

Ambitious About Autism, based in Woodside Avenue, Muswell Hill, confirmed it is no longer working with Wallace, 60, and has contacted him to thank him for his support.

The broadcaster, entrepreneur and writer stepped down from Masterchef last Thursday (November 28), which he has co-presented for 19 years.

The televised cooking competition production company Banijay UK has appointed a law firm to investigate accusations that he made sexual comments towards staff and celebrity guests on a range of programmes over 17 years.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “In light of recent allegations, we are no longer working with Gregg Wallace.

"We have let him know our decision and thanked him for his support of our work over the last two years.”

Wallace was made ambassador of Ambitious About Autism in June 2023.

He told the Ham&High at the time that the subject was "close to my heart" because he and his wife Anna's five-year-old son is non-verbal with autism.

He said: "Autistic children and young people and their families face many challenges and that’s why Ambitious about Autism’s work is so vital."

The charity runs TreeHouse School, which grew from The TreeHouse Trust, founded in 1997 by a group of parents including the author Nick Hornby.

The school started teaching five children in a room in Hampstead's Royal Free Hospital and moved to Muswell Hill in 2004.

In 2008 the charity built a purpose-designed school where autistic pupils aged three to 19 from across London receive specialist support from a team of qualified teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour specialists.

Wallace has been contacted.
