A “lovely youth worker” who “does so much for the community” was stabbed on her doorstep in Muswell Hill, neighbours have revealed.

The woman in her 40s was found injured in St James Lane just after 8pm yesterday (November 27). 

She was taken to hospital for treatment where her injuries were assessed as non-life threatening. 

One youth worker, 23, told Metro that she’s a "lovely" woman who set up a youth club at the local centre.

They added: “She is great with kids, absolutely lovely and very energetic. I can’t see how anyone could want to hurt her.

“She does so much for the community.”

Another youth worker, 22, also revealed: “She set up a club on a Fridays for the kids, she is loved.”

A teenage boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.  

He was taken into custody where he remains.

Chester O’Field, 61, also told the Metro that she was the “nicest person it could happen to”.

He added: “She and the family go to James’s Church. 

“She raised people’s spirits every where she went. Just a lovely lady. You pray she’s ok.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 8.04pm on Wednesday, 27 November to reports of an assault on St James Lane, Muswell Hill.

"Officers attended and found a woman, aged in her 40s, with stab injuries. Her injuries are not life threatening.

"A male in his teens was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

"He was taken into custody where he remains."
