Christmas is coming to The Barbican with a festival of uplifting choirs, classic carols, and concerts by candelight.
Running from December 7th, the line-up includes The King’s College, Cambridge Choir, Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Four Seasons by Candlelight, and a screening of festive film The Holiday Live In Concert.
Other highlights include an orchestral tribute to film composers like Hans Zimmer and John Williams, and the popular Big Christmas Party blending festive pop hits with traditional favourites, performed by four headline singers.
The action kicks off on Saturday 7th December with A Gospel Christmas featuring gospel choir the Flames Collective, and ends on January 1st when 2025 is welcomed in with a celebration of classical favourites at the New Year’s Day Proms.
Christmas with King’s College Choir on Friday December 20th features both the Cambridge based chorus, and North London's own Crouch End Festival Chorus singing carols and festive classics.
On December 21st there's the atmospheric Candlelit Carols followed on December 22nd by a festive carol singalong.
The Big Christmas Party is on December 23rd with a live ensemble band and the four headliners to be announced.
Glenn Miller Orchestra swings audiences back to the wartime hits of the 1940s on December 27th, backed by the Sing Time Jivers and The London Belles.
Later that evening, The Best of John Williams sees the scores from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and more performed by an orchestra.
The baroque joys of Vivaldi's Four Seasons by Candlelight takes place on December 29th, followed by more music from the movies featuring The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones.
The score of Christmas film The Holiday performed by an orchestra alongside the film is on December 30th December, and on New Year's Eve audiences can enjoy more film classics in a score showdown; The Music of Zimmer vs Williams.
Audiences for the New Year’s Day Proms will be treated to a celebration of classical favourites and a complimentary drink.
