A pool at a school in Frognal could be demolished to make was for a new sports pitch.
An application has been made to Camden Council on behalf of St Anthony's School for Boys seeking approval to demolish an existing swimming pool and enclosure.
The proposed site belongs to the Junior House for the school, according to the covering letter, and includes a four-storey Victorian detached property for pupils between five and thirteen.
According to the application form, a hard surfaced soft play area and an enclosed swimming pool encompass the rear of the land.
The application proposed to replace the pool with an astro-turf sports pitch, estimated to span 1598 square metres.
A covering letter submitted with the case reports that the pool is "out-dated, no longer fit-for-purpose".
The introduction of the astro-turf pitch is intended "to enhance the sporting and daily recreational facilities at the school", according to the documents.

If approved, a new chain-link fence will be erected around the pitch to "contain sports balls when in use", with new planting to the southern border of the site.
A new paved footpath would also be introduced along the eastern edge of the pitch to provide access to the classrooms to the rear of the school.
The entire development is estimated to cost up to £2 million in total.
Comments can be made on the application 2024/3758/P until November 10.
