A row of shops in Finchley Road could be replaced by a seven-storey boutique hotel with 59 rooms.
Four businesses currently occupy 9-12 New College Parade, a two-storey retail building in Finchley Road.
But under a new planning application submitted to Camden Council by developer New College Ltd, the site could soon be transformed into a boutique hotel.
Current plans suggest retaining the existing Edwardian baroque façade of the building, behind which the new seven-storey hotel will be built.
Six floors will be constructed above ground level, and there will also be a basement below.
A restaurant is planned for the ground floor and basement, with three new private homes created on the first floor.
The 59 hotel rooms will be spread across the entire building, apart from on the first floor.
In planning documents submitted to the council, the applicant says: “Much consideration has been given to the design of the proposed development that elegantly combines two eras of architectural design.
“The historic Edwardian baroque facade already in existence [combined] with the contemporary minimalist facade above…intends to set a positive precedent for high quality architecture in the local area.”
Full details of the application can be found on Camden Council’s planning portal under reference 2024/3454/P. Comments about the plans can be made until September 26.
