A murder trial is due to begin this week after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck while celebrating New Year's Eve with friends.

Harry Pitman died after violence broke out on Primrose Hill at around 11.40pm on December 31.

The 16-year-old was waiting to watch the fireworks when he was allegedly attacked with a hunting knife.

Nearby police officers gave him first aid before paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene shortly afterwards.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is charged with murder and possession of a knife.

He also denies a charge of having an offensive weapon – a hunting knife in a sheath allegedly used in the attack.

The trial is due to begin on Monday  (September 2) at the Old Bailey, which is expected to last six weeks.
