A Chinese market stall and a live music venue are among the places that scored poor food hygiene ratings in the past month.

Between July and August, 11 places raised concerns as they were found to be not up to standard when Camden Council environmental health officers inspected the venues.

It includes Camden’s music venue Dingwalls, which was once renamed as PowerHaus, as well as some Camden Market eateries.

Here is a break-down of the poor hygiene scores:

Nano Mediterranean

Nano Mediterranean in Hawley Wharf was given a 2/5 after an inspection on July 1, with inspectors finding ‘improvement necessary’.

Both the hygienic food handling and management of food safety were found to be ‘generally satisfactory’, but the cleanliness and condition of facilities was given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

True Romance

This Quentin Tarantino-themed pizza restaurant and cocktail bar in Water Lane, Camden, was given a 2/5 with ‘improvement necessary’ on July 3.

Both the hygienic food handling and management of food safety were found to be ‘generally satisfactory’, but the cleanliness and condition of facilities was given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

INE BY TAKU

The Japanese restaurant in Hampstead High Street needed ‘major improvement’ after scoring a 1/5 on July 4.

Its cleanliness and condition of facilities was ‘generally satisfactory', the hygienic food handling was given a ‘improvement necessary’ rating, and its management of food safety needed ‘major improvement'.

Quartieri

On July 5, the Italian restaurant in Kilburn High Road was given a 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary’.

Bot the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’.

SMOKETEERS

Camden’s Hawley Wharf smokehouse was inspected on July 8 and given a 0/5, with ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were rated ‘major improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was given ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

Pizza and Chicken Zone/Malics Peri Peri

On July 10, this Kentish Town Road eatery was given a 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary’.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’.

Camden Bakery

Camden High Street’s bakery was given a 0/5 with ‘urgent improvement necessary’ on July 10.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘major improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was given ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

The Green Supermarket / Kentish Town Supermarket

On July 12. The Kentish Town Road shop scored 0/5, with ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

The hygienic food handling was given a ‘improvement necessary’ rating, but both the cleanliness and condition of facilities and management of food safety needed ‘major improvement’.

Harvest Garden

The Chinese Camden Stables Market store was given a 0/5 with ‘urgent improvement necessary’ on July 17.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was given ‘urgent improvement necessary’.

Regent’s Natural

On July 18, the shop and café was given a 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary’.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was given ‘major improvement necessary’.

DingWalls / PowerHaus

Found at Camden Lock Place, this music venue was given a 0/5, the lowest possible rating, with ‘urgent improvement necessary’, on July 23.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘major improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was given ‘urgent improvement necessary’.


At the time of publication all other places listed in August were given an impressive 5/5, but this is likely to change once updated data comes through next month.
