Five candidates have thrown their names into the ring after Camden's leader left when she became an MP.

Georgia Gould resigned from her Kentish Town South seat after winning the Maida Vale & Queen's Park seat in the general election on July 4.

A by-election date has now been set for September 5.

The Kentish Town South ward has been Labour-held since it was created in 2022.

The ward was previously split between Cantelowes and Kentish Town.

The successful candidate will join ward councillors Meriç Apak and Jenny Headlam-Wells.

The five candidates fighting for the seat are, in alphabetical order: 

Joseph William Ball: Labour Party. 

Alice Amelia Brown: Green Party. 

Tara Michelle Louise Copeland: Liberal Democrat.

Muhammad Abu Naser: Independent. 

Shajib Ziffer: Conservative Party.

Anyone who needs to register to vote should do so by August 19.

The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on August 20.

And the deadline for proxy vote applications - in which somebody votes on your behalf - is 5pm on  August 28. 

If you have no photo identification the deadline for Voter Authority Certificates is at 5pm on  August 28.

All candidates can send a picture and short bio outlining three top priorities for the ward to nathalie.raffray@newsquest.co.uk by August 27 to be included in the Ham&High newspaper edition.
