A “dangerous predator” has been jailed after raping a woman.
Victor Adegbesan, 34, of Inverness Street, Camden, was found to have raped a woman on July 22, 2021.
After the victim called police, an investigation quickly launched and Adegbesan was charged the next day to keep him in custody and off the streets.
Metropolitan Police officers had to gather detailed medical records to show the extent of the abuse and develop a watertight case against him.
Adegbesan was sentenced to six years and seven months’ imprisonment at Wood Green Crown on July 26, 2024.
He was previously found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial at the same court on May 3.
Detective Constable Max Orange, who led the investigation in Camden, said: “I commend the bravery of the victim-survivor for coming forward and reporting this abhorrent crime.
“The Met takes its responsibility to protect women and girls incredibly seriously. I am proud we secured justice for the victim-survivor putting one more dangerous predator behind bars.
“We urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you rightly deserve.”
