Actress Amanda Abbington was allegedly given a death threat that she would “die on stage”.

Police are investigating reports of a death threat to the Sherlock star, who is currently starring in When It Happens To You at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a staff member at the theatre called police on Friday (August 2) around 4pm, “following receipt of an alleged malicious communication”.

And in a report from The Sun, it's claimed she received an email saying she would “die on stage” unless she retracts her complaint about her former Strictly Come Dancing 2023 partner,  Giovanni Pernice.

She had made a complaint about the dancer's teaching methods and in July she spoke out about receiving "death threats and rape threats” since the complaint was made.

Abbington later sad she was subject to “inappropriate, mean, nasty bullying” and a “toxic environment” on the show.

Pernice has spoken out on the allegations, denying “any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour”.

A Met spokesperson said: “There have been no arrests, inquiries are ongoing.”
