Four people have been charged with murder after a Greek tourist was fatally stabbed in a suspected botched robbery after leaving a nightclub.

Antonios Antoniadis, 26, was allegedly followed and then attacked in New Cross on Sunday, July 7.

Police were called to Florence Terrace, where Antonios had been assaulted and stabbed, at around 9.20am. He died after two weeks of specialist intensive care in hospital on July 21.

Shian Johnson, 25, of Argyle Walk, Camden, appeared at the Old Bailey yesterday (Thursday) charged with his murder.

Prosecutor William Emlyn Jones said Mr Antoniadis was killed in an apparent attempt to rob him by the occupants of a car that followed him home from a nightclub.

He added: “Mr Antoniadis was a visitor to the UK on holiday. He was a Greek national.”

Judge Philip Katz set a plea hearing for October 21 and a provisional six-week trial from June 2 next year.

Appearing by video link from Belmarsh prison, Johnson spoke only to confirm his identity. He was remanded in custody.

On Monday, Sofian Alliche, 19, of Holborn, central London, and a 17-year-old youth appeared at the Old Bailey charged with murder. They were also remanded in custody.

Joshua McCorquodale, 23, of Upper Park Road, Belsize Park, has also been charged with murder and is due to have a first Crown Court hearing tomorrow (Friday).
