Tulip Siddiq is under investigation by Parliament’s standards watchdog after allegedly failing to declare income from a London rental flat for more than a year.

Siddiq, who was re-elected to Parliament representing Hampstead and Highgate earlier this month, owns the flat with her husband, who collects the rent.

According to the website for the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, an investigation has been launched into an alleged late registration of interests by the MP.

All MPs are required to register interests within 28 days.

The flat owned by Siddiq has a value of more than £100,000 and is rented out for more than £10,000 a year.

It is understood that Siddiq has apologised for the error, which has been blamed on an “administrative oversight”.

A Labour spokesperson said: “Tulip will cooperate fully with the Parliamentary Commissioner on Standards on this matter."

Siddiq also earns income from another rental flat, which was registered in June 2015.

She has also registered gifts worth more than £1,700 since May 2023.

These include two box tickets worth £500 to see a Harry Styles concert at Wembley Stadium last June.

She was also gifted tickets for a concert at The O2 in April, as well as a Royal Shakespeare Company production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Barbican and the Chelsea Flower Show last year.
