From labourer to gardeners to cleaners to developers, north London based businesses and workers have made it on the deliberate tax defaulters list.
Reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every three months name and shame the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.
Many businesses and individuals across Camden, Westminster, Barnet, Brent, Haringey, Harrow, Hackney and Enfield, have been ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.
We have listed them borough by borough below.
CAMDEN
Online salesman Eamir Ali, of Maitland Park Road, Chalk Farm, was slapped with a £35,383.60 fine after £59,468.28 went unaccounted for between April 6, 2015 and April 5, 2021.
Motor vehicle repair and car parking facilities firm ULS UK, based in Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage, was fined £43,330.08 after not declaring £70,7431 between April 2018 and September 12, 2021.
BARNET
Fire prevention company Preventions, based in Golders Green Road, failed to declare £80, 595.33 from November 1, 2012 to October 2016 and was fined £53,192.89.
Lymington Consultants, trading as ‘Onepay Solutions’, which carried out financial services for holding companies and was listed at Woodberry Grove, North Finchley, was hit with a £268,991.41 fine after evading £465,786 in tax from March 2021 to October 30, 2021.
Estrada Services, a business consultancy firm, formerly of Dyas Avenue, Birmingham and Percy Road in North Finchley, was fined the entire £640,193 it evaded between April 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020 and also from April 2021 to March 31, 2022.
Building cleaners Fox Service, of Netherfield Road, North Finchley, and formerly of Vivian Avenue, Hendon, and Ruckholt Road, Waltham Forest, was fined £106,509.42 after a sum of £109,240.44 went unaccounted for between September 1, 2019 and August 31, 2021
Sean Jay Jevan, of The Woodlands, Southgate, evaded paying £27,456 tax from income earned from property between between April 6, 2014 and April 5, 2016 and was fined £14,414.
Carpentry and joinery firm Beraca Art, formerly of 103 Deans Lane, Edgware, was made to pay £66,136.36 in tax it evaded between April 2020 to April 2022.
Consultant Gabriel Rozental, of Gibbs Green, Edgware, had to pay £235,039.62 after evading £441,658.75 from April 2010 to April 2016
Carlos Gardening Services, formerly of Glengall Road, Edgware, was hit with £57,674.40 for evading £82,392 between October 10, 2021 and July 31, 2022.
Builder Mihai Ionascu, of Holyrood Gardens, Edgware, was ordered to pay £16,784.37 after evading £28,209.04 between April 6, 2020 and April 5, 2022.
WESTMINSTER
Property developer Chee Kong Ong (Known as Francis Ong), formerly of Pindock Mews, Maida Vale, and Kings Way, Harrow, was forced to pay £1,389,446.18 after evading £2,583,757 in tax from April 2011 to April 2019.
HARINGEY
Riki Oil, which collects non-hazardous waste and is based in Rowland Hill Avenue, near White Hart Lane, Tottenham, paid back every penny of the £425,069 it evaded from April 6, 2020 to April 5, 2022.
Meat wholesaler Vatan Catering, trading as ‘Vatan’, was fined £160,489.85 after evading tax for 10 years. Based in Millmead Industrial Centre, Mill Mead Road, Tottenham Hale, it owed £305,695 for a period from April 1, 2010 to April 2020.
London Storage & Distribution, based in Tariff Road, Tottenham, was fined £159,492.01 after not paying £233,688 between March 2019 and May 31, 2022.
Wholesaler Nihat Packaging, based in the High Street, Tottenham, did not pay a £27,219 tax bill from March 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021, and had to fork out £18,576.96.
DE & PA Construction, in Rowland Hill Avenue, White Hart Lane, was fined £26,248.50 for evading a £27,630 bill from February 1, 2021 to Jan 31, 2022.
BRENT
Raffi Keheyian, of Elms Lane, Wembley, owed a total of £48,840.92 from income from property and car rental between April 2010 and April 2013, and from April 2014 to April 2021. He was fined £23,529.78.
The taxman had two addresses for John Christopher Brennan, a lineman who worked in construction. Formerly of Fletton Avenue, Peterborough, and Roundwood Road, Willesden, between April 2013 and April 2018 he evaded £56,375.83 in tax and was ordered to pay £36,644.27.
Asim Waris was fined £191,820.89 from an 11-year tax evasion of £284,190.47 from an undeclared income. Between April 2010 and April 2021 he had three addresses - Norwood Road in Ealing and 65 Hay Lane, in The Hyde, Kingsbury, and De Havilland Road in Edgware.
Builder Emil Ilisoi, formerly of Rose Bates Drive, The Hyde, and Wyld Way, Wembley paid £34,666.73 after not paying tax of £56,763.57 due between April 2017 and April 5, 2021.
Gavril Ciotu, a construction worker with former addresses in Alexandra Avenue, Harrow and Princes Avenue, Kingsbury, was fined £21,945.776 from an unpaid £33,001.20 tax bill covering the period from April 2019 to April 2022.
Accountant Dinyar Behram Cooper, from Valley Drive, The Hyde, was hit with a £23,936.49 fine after £43,368.78 in tax or duty was unaccounted for between April 6, 2010 and April 5, 2019.
Construction worker Silvian Dinu, formerly of Brampton Road, The Hyde, Cotman Gardens, in Harrow, and Fairfield Crescent in Barnet, was fined £17,322.93 for not paying £26,049.54 due between April 6, 2020 and April 5, 2022.
Ciprian Ilie Tabarcea, formerly of The Grove in The Hyde, was fined £18,182.95 after £27,763.23 was not paid between April 6, 2016 and April 5, 2020.
HARROW
Nicolae Cretu, also in construction, lived in Lavender Avenue, The Hyde, and Orchard Grove, Harrow, when an unpaid tax bill of £26,096.18 run up between April 6 2019 to April 5 2021. He was fined £17,353.95,
Alin Petrica Crista was fined £33,325.75 after not paying £50,113.93 from April 6, 2018 to April 5, 2023. The labourer's address was listed as High Street, Northwood, Middlesex and formerly as Harkett Close, Harrow, and Westfield Drive, Harrow.
Carpenter Vasile Telescu, who had former addresses listed in Waghorn Road, Harrow, and Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, was fined £16,979.35 for evading £25,532.87 in tax from April 6, 2020 to April 5, 2022.
Florin-Marian Nichitean, a construction worker, from Tenby Avenue, Harrow, had former addresses in Station Parade, Whitchurch Lane, Edgware and Chamberlayne Avenue, Wembley Park. From April 6, 2019 to April 5, 2022 he amassed a tax debt of £29,753.39 and was fined £19,785.98.
Ionut-Alexandru Draghici, of Chapman Crescent, Harrow, was hit with a £76,067.41 fine after not paying £108,667.75 between April 6, 2018 and April 5, 2021. The labourer had two former addresses listed, one in Newbold, Rugby, and the other in Uxendon Crescent, Wembley.
MDIS Construction, based in Claremont Road, Harrow, was fined £302,577.35 after evading tax payments totalling £318,502.48 from April 6, 2020 to April 5, 2022.
Vasile Morosan, who worked in construction services, had former addresses in Bonnerfields Lane and also Charlton Road, both in Harrow. From April 6, 2018 to April 5, 2021 a tax bill of £52,486.04 was not paid, resulting in a £20,207.11 fine.
Carpenter Ravji Ramji Pindolia, from Reynolds Drive, in Edgware, was hit with a £17,488.30 penalty for tax evasion of £31,796.95 from April 6, 2010 to April 5, 2022.
Petru Nistor, a tape and jointer, from Vancouver Road, Edgware, was fined £19,748.97 after a sum of £33,191.55 when unaccounted for from April 6, 2019 to April 5, 2020.
ENFIELD
Sean Jay Jevan was fined £14,414 after a sum of £27,456 in income from his property in The Woodlands, Southgate, was unaccounted for from April 6, 2014 to April 5, 2016.
Birsel Bastug, of Greenway, Southgate, was given a £68,957.10 penalty after a tax bill of £141,450.56 from income from a rental property went unpaid between April 6, 2010 and April 5, 2018.
Cleaning company Prestige, formerly of 483 Green Lanes, avoided a tax bill of £111,530.74 between April 6, 2020 and April 5, 2022. It was fined £109,300.11
Maggie Cleaning, also formerly of 483 Greens Lane, evaded £89,629.81 in tax from April 6, 2020 to April 5, 2022 and was fined £87,837.21.
Construction company EM & MA Services, in Woolmer Gardens, ignored or evaded £49,454 in tax from April 6, 2021 to April 5, 2022 and was fined £46,981.30.
Alwi Cumar Jaffer, formerly of Russell Road, who worked in courier services, was fined £221,882.29 after evading a tax bill of £316,974.73 from April 6, 2013 to April 5, 2016 and April 6, 2019 to April 5, 2020.
HACKNEY
Rashida Burhani owed £60,555.31 from income she made from property between April 6, 2010 and April 5, 2021. She was fined £19,569.29. Listed as living in Kimberley Close, Bishop’s Stortford, she had former addresses in Dukes Ride, Bishop’s Stortford and Oldhill Street, Stoke Newington.
EU Distribution, which has warehousing and storage facilities registered in Wenlock Road, failed to disclose £60,555.31 between March 1, 2021and May 31, 2022, and was with a fine of £23,312.60
Finally, Breindel Schwartz, of Forburg Road, Stoke Newington, was fined £16,399.92 after tax of £27,299.20 from April 6, 2018 to April 5, 2022 went unpaid.
