Crowds of people looked on in horror as a bus full of passengers crashed into a shop.

Six people were injured when a number 18 bus crashed into the West Nine Food & Wine shop on Harrow Road, Maida Vale, this afternoon (July 16).

The bus was full of passengers when it crashed into scaffolding outside the shop and then into the building at around 2.18pm.

According to the Metropolitan Police, six people, including the bus driver, were treated by medics at the scene – but none of the injuries are thought to be serious.

Both the 18 and 36 bus services are being diverted from Harrow Road due to the closure.

Although the Metropolitan Police said six people were injured, the London Ambulance Service says seven people were treated.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, incident response officers and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in less than five minutes.

“We treated seven patients in total. We took four patients to hospital and discharged the other three at the scene.”

Police have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the Met on 101 or message @MetCC on X quoting 4316/16JUL.
