A Tube line was part suspended after flooding at a north London station.

Commuters said that the Piccadilly line was “a mess” after it was hit by severe delays during this morning’s rush hour (July 16).

Flooding at Wood Green station and a signal failure at Oakwood station meant services were cancelled between Cockfosters and Hyde Park Corner.

One customer said on X: “Going into the office is a myth! Piccadilly line is a mess.”

Another added: “Great start to the day with no Piccadilly line running!!”

TfL has now apologised for the disruption, blaming “heavy rain overnight and flooding".

The transport body added that its teams were “working hard to clear the water”, and that services on the line have now resumed.

Carl Eddleston, TfL’s network management and resilience director, said: “We advise anyone travelling during periods of heavy rainfall to check before they travel in case of any disruption caused by flooding or fallen trees.

“Our staff are always available to help and our emergency response teams are ready to quickly respond to any issues.”

Elsewhere in north London, the government warned of a flood risk around the River Brent, from Hendon to Brentford. This flood warning has since been lifted.

Heavy flooding was reported in Euston Road near King’s Cross station, where footage showed businesses using sandbags to protect their shops.

Severe delays also hit commuters on the Metropolitan line, after a signal failure at Chorleywood.
