"Extremely brave and courageous girls" from around the UK took part in the first Bikini March on Hampstead Heath.

A group of 15 women met outside Hampstead Heath station on Saturday (July 13) and walked to the Heath - but they were braving more than just a chilly morning.

They had gathered after seeing an Instagram post from Tallulah O'Hea, a body confidence coach who lives in Gospel Oak.

Her movement, #everybodyisasummerbody, is about celebrating women's bodies, standing up against body shaming and bringing women together.

Mum of one Tallulah, who has another baby on the way, said: "The whole morning was incredible and more than I could have ever expected.

"We all stripped off our clothes into our bikinis and marched past the mixed ponds, up onto Parliament Hill, shaking our bodies up there, celebrating the woman's body and all its different shapes and sizes and then continued our march, finishing at the Parliament Hill Lido Cafe."

The woman had placards with messages such as 'every body is a summer body' and 'the perfect beach body: your body at the beach'.

Tallulah said two Australian women had seen her poster in the Heath's public toilets and messaged her an hour before the march asking to join in.

"Every woman felt so empowered and inspired after the walk," she added. "There were definitely pre-march nerves about walking around in a bikini but because we were all in it together and doing it for such an amazing movement, it felt so exciting and confidence building."

Tallulah is planning a second Bikini March on July 5, 2025, and hopes 100 women will take part next year.
