Plans to change the use of an existing escape room and turn it into a café are among those that have featured on Camden Council's planning list this week.

The application is just one of many in a wide range of proposals submitted to the council between July 8 and July 14.

Each application will be considered thoroughly before decisions to approve or refuse cases will be made.

In Covent Garden, an application (2024/2698/P) has been made seeking permission to convert the use of an existing escape room in Drury Lane, into a café.

In Camden, a proposal has been put to the council to get permission to change the use of the ground floor of a property in Kentish Town Road from a cinema, to flexible use (2024/0601/P).

The site lies at the junction of Kentish Town Road and Prince of Wales Road and the application refers to 234 sqm of land.

The existing cinema came about from a proposal that was approved in 2015, that saw the building redeveloped to provide a five-storey building with cinema, café and bar use to the ground floor.

Twelve residential units were approved across floors one to four as part of the previous application.

According to the cover letter submitted to the change of use request, the "proposals present an opportunity to optimise the ground floor" of the site.

The document goes on to say: "This application does not propose to omit the cinema use. Rather, the application proposes that the cinema use would be retained, and will form part of a broader, flexible use.

A method statement for the monitoring and conservation of ground movement at an address in Camden due to underground construction for the HS2 railway, has been submitted.

The application (2024/2708/HS2) regards 57 Mornington Terrace, which currently operates as The Edinboro Castle pub.

The pub is a a grade II listed building, believed to date back to around 1848.

According to the documents, before submitting the method statement, consultations were held with the council and Historic England in February 2023.

These consultations were reportedly linked to proposals for fixing monitoring devices to the listed building as a temporary measure

It appears applicant SCS Railways (HS2) was later advised that they would need to apply for consent for monitoring and conservation management plans.

The proposal also includes measures for "making arrangements for appropriate remedial works during or following construction."
