Hampstead Photographic Society was founded back in 1937 and lays claim to be northwest London's premier camera club.

The annual summer exhibition is always a visual treat and takes place this year at Burgh House from July 23 until August 11.

The images on show are all original new work by the talented membership, including previously unseen and recently completed pieces.

The exhibition includes 60 original works of art created using a range of technology and covering numerous subjects, from local scenes to far-flung countries.Karo boys watching over their CattleKaro boys watching over their Cattle (Image: Erika Howard)

Society members have turned to creative imagery, portraits, wildlife, landscapes, urban scenes, abstracts, travel and the natural world for inspiration.

David Reed, Chairman of Hampstead Photographic Society explains: “We’re proud that our camera club members create such a wide variety of brilliant
pictures and are delighted to share this creativity with all visitors to Burgh House right in the heart of Hampstead.

"It is most gratifying to be among a group whose passion for photography drives them constantly to interpret and reinterpret their surroundings."

The Society meets weekly on Tuesdays from September to June, sometimes in person, and sometimes on Zoom.

It welcomes anyone with an interest in photography, from beginners to professionals and is part of the Photographic  Alliance of Great Britain, which covers all the UK's amateur societies.

Their programme includes talks covering the likes of artificial intelligence, photojournalism, the art of photography, the history of photography, urban/street photography, portrait and travel photography.

They also run monthly competitions which are judged by external specialists and give members a chance to have have their work assessed and receive feedback.

Several Society members are expert in photography, and offer one to-one tuition in addition to delivering talks on techniques.

The Society also organises photographic outings to galleries and takes part in and competitions and exhibitions of fellow camera clubs.
