A restaurant that was warned that improvement was necessary after a poor food hygiene rating has now dropped down to the lowest possible score.

The Good Egg was among three that scored 0/5 after inspectors from Camden Council’s environmental health visited - meaning  ‘urgent improvement’ is necessary.

A further nine establishments in the borough scored 2/5 or below – meaning improvement is ‘necessary’ - during inspections between mid-May and the start of June.

But according to the latest data published so far, all eateries inspected in June are either ‘good’ or ‘very good’  - although this is subject to change once further data is published.

The nine venues include:

Costcutters

The store at the Prince of Wales Road in Kentish Town was given a 0/5, with urgent improvement necessary, after an inspection on May 21.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities needed ‘major improvement’, while the management of food safety required ‘urgent improvement’.

Aperivino

After opening at Belsize Terrace in 2023, the wine bar was given a 1/5  on May 22, with ‘major improvement necessary’.

The management of food safety required ‘major improvement’, while both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

The Late Late Shop

This off licence in Belsize Lane was also given a 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary’, after a visit on May 23.

While the hygienic food handling was considered to be ‘generally satisfactory’, the cleanliness and condition of facilities needed ‘improvement’, and the management of food safety required ‘major improvement’.

Bourne’s Fishmongers

Another Belsize Lane establishment was given a 1/5, meaning ‘major improvement’ was needed, after an inspection on May 23.

While the hygienic food handling was considered to be ‘generally satisfactory’, the cleanliness and condition of facilities needed ‘improvement’, and the management of food safety required ‘major improvement’.

The Good Egg

Last year, the Ham&High reported that the Tel-Aviv inspired restaurant was given a 2/5 and told improvement was ‘necessary’ on October 16, 2023, just weeks after it opened its doors.

It seems that conditions have worsened at the North Yard, Chalk Farm, establishment, as it was given a 0/5 with ‘urgent improvement necessary’ after an inspection on May 29.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’ after the latest visit.

Sushi Salsa London

Located at Camden Wharf, in Jamestown Road, this eatery was given a 0/5 with ‘urgent improvement necessary’ after a visit on May 29.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’ and the management of food safety needed ‘urgent improvement’.

Kebena Green LTD

This Ethiopian restaurant in Crowndale Road, Mornington Crescent, was slapped with a 1/5 rating, meaning ‘major improvement’ was necessary on May 29.

While the cleanliness and condition of facilities were found to be ‘generally satisfactory’, the hygienic food handling and management of food safety both needed ‘major improvement’.

Cholo Kha'i Café

Located at the Somers Town Community Association Café in Ossulston Street, the café was given a 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary, on May 30.

While both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of facilities were rated ‘generally satisfactory’, and the management of food safety needed ‘major improvement'.

Bread & Truffle

This eatery at St Pancras International station was given a 2/5, with ‘improvement necessary’, after a visit on May 31.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’, but the management of food safety was considered ‘generally satisfactory’.
