Dance star Adam Cooper is set to lead the company of a classic Broadway musical at Sadler's Wells this summer.
A Chorus Line arrives at the North London venue after an acclaimed run at The Curve in Leicester three years ago.
Nikolai Foster's revival transports audiences to New York City in 1975 as 17 performers are put through their final gruelling audition for a spot in the chorus line of a new Broadway musical.
Only eight will make the cut, as they each share their ambitions and shattered hopes in a piece that was created by Michael Bennett using real-life testimonies from dancers and became one of Broadway's longest running shows.
With a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, it features songs such as One, I Hope I Get It, Nothing and What I Did For Love.
Cooper, who starred in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, and played the grown up Billy in Billy Elliot, plays formidable director Zach while Mercedes Dyer (Anything Goes at the Barbican Theatre; Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre) is his ex, Cassie, who is both too good for the chorus line yet struggles to make it to the next level.
Both reprise roles that they played to great critical acclaim in a show that celebrates the unsung heroes of the stage and what it costs to follow your dreams.
Expect stunning choreography from Ellen Kane, heart-wrenching storytelling, and musical theatre's most unforgettable top hat-toting, toe-tapping high-kicking finale.
A Chorus Line runs at Sadler's Wells in Rosebery Avenue from July 31 to August 25 before continuing on tour.
