An MP helped launch a school space where pupils will have the chance to work or play safely after lessons end.
Mulberry Academy Woodside is working to provide extended hours for its secondary school pupils, and opened an extension for this at its site in White Hart Lane, Haringey, on Friday (May 17).
Attending the launch, Hornsey and Wood Green MP Catherine West spoke to pupils about politics, the state of the economy and their ideas on how to tackle inflation.
The Labour MP said: “It’s so important that young people have somewhere they feel safe and supported to learn and have fun and I’m delighted to open Woodside’s fabulous new canteen extension that will expand their offer to students outside core school hours."
Headteacher Angela Wallace said: "This will be crucial in creating a provision for students to stay and study or stay and play after the school day ends.
"It is so important for our community to have safe spaces outside of formal school hours and for our students to have the chance to extend their learning."
