A lorry driver has been arrested after a “hit and run” crash which has left one woman fighting for her life in hospital.
Police were called to the smash at the junction between Wood Green High Road and Bounds Green Road shortly before 12.30pm today (March 25).
Two pedestrians were found injured at the scene. One, a woman aged in her 50s, was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
The other, a woman aged in her 60s, has been assessed as having injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.
One lorry driver stopped at the scene of the crash. He has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
The driver of the other lorry did not stop at the scene, and police are currently searching for them.
Road closures have been put in place, causing widespread disruption in the area.
Any witnesses have been asked by police to call 101 quoting CAD 3125/25Mar.
