A rabbi has been charged with sexual assault after claims were flagged to police in a television interview.
Chaim Halpern, 64, of Bridge Lane, Golders Green, was charged yesterday (Thursday, March 21) with two counts of sexual assault.
An unnamed woman made the allegations in an interview in a television interview in December 2022, claiming she was a victim of sexual offences in London.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation and a man in his 60s was arrested on March 9 last year. A file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in December.
He has been bailed to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on April 19.
Investigating officers continue to support the victim.
The force said: “All allegations of sexual offences are taken extremely seriously by the Met and we would always encourage victims to come forward in confidence so we can support them and investigate further.”
