A 'modern' Irish pub will open in Shoreditch in time for St Patrick's Day, with pints of stout on sale the day before for just £2.50.
Named after a ballad made popular by Irish singer Christy Moore, Nancy Spains will be offering 2,500 pints of Murphy's at the bargain price of £2.50 on Saturday March 16.
The new bar on Curtain Street is also partnering with Jamesons Whiskey to bring four delicious cocktails to pub-goers from Friday to Sunday.
In keeping with a pub named after a song, there will be entertainment throughout the day and evening of the 16th, courtesy of acoustic guitarist Jeremy Peter Allan, followed by DJs.
On St Patrick's Day itself, March 17, the pub will be hosting an Irish Trad Session, while the kitchen will play host to Dominican pop up restaurant Boca Chica.
The pub's Irish owners say Nancy Spain’s embodies the spirit of a true Irish watering hole, with warm hospitality, live music, and Irish drinks and snacks bringing something new to Shoreditch’s busy nightlife.
Murphys is the draught stout of choice, with other beers on tap including Cruzcampo, Moretti, Neck Oil and Nancy Spain’s own crisp, clean and floral lager.
The extensive Whiskey range features Jamesons, West Cork Whistler, and Connemara as well as smaller brands distilled in Kerry, the home county of the pub’s owners.
The cocktail menu is a celebration of Irish heritage, inspired by famous writers and brands including Barry’s Pornstar which takes elements form the much loved martini with the addition of Barry’s Tea. Inspired by Miami Vice and the classic film Gangs of New York is a spicy yet creamy number with a Caribbean twist and dashes of rum, Pedro Ximinez and Creme de Banana. Lastly, the Mexican Bramble takes the traditional drink with the addition of chilli infused tequila and Murphy's stout cordial.
To round off the bar offering, Nancy’s will be offering Taytos crisps, and other classic Irish snacks. Downstairs in Nancy’s kitchen, a monthly changing guest chef provides sustenance to drinkers.
And as the sun sets, Nancy Spain’s transforms into a lively cocktail bar, hosting live music four times a week, Thursday to Sunday.
Nancy Spains is open to the public from March 15 at 128-130 Curtain Road, EC2A.
