Hidden amidst the charming landscapes of Richmond, the Richmond Hill Hotel offers a captivating blend of historic charm and modern luxury.

I had the pleasure of staying the night at this exquisite hotel and indulging in a culinary experience at its stunning fine-dining restaurant, 144 On The Hill.

From the moment I stepped into the elegant lobby to the last sip of my cocktail, my experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

Richmond Hill Hotel features a range of stylish bedrooms, a 24-hour gym, a swoon-worthy bar and restaurant, and a Winter WonderLounge terrace.

Ham & High:

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming communications manager who made me, and my mum, feel instantly at home.

The check-in process was seamless, and we were escorted to our room with efficiency and courtesy.

As we entered our Georgian deluxe room for the night, I was struck by the tasteful décor and attention to detail.

Ham & High:

The room exuded an air of sophistication, with plush furnishings, soft lighting, and modern amenities that ensured a comfortable stay.

One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking view from our room.

Situated on Richmond Hill, the hotel offers sweeping vistas of the picturesque surrounding countryside, including the iconic bend of the River Thames and the verdant Richmond Park.

Ham & High:

Waking up to such a mesmerising panorama was a truly unforgettable experience that set the tone for a memorable stay.

Not only that, but our room also featured a sublimely spacious bath which radiated tranquillity and harmony, as it sat next to the window and was deep enough to wash away any worry.

Ham & High:

My mum and I relaxed, chatted, unpacked, and enjoyed a glass of prosecco as we took in our beautiful room for the night, and before we knew it, it was dinner time at 144 On The Hill, Richmond Hill Hotel’s signature restaurant.

Upon entering the glamorous restaurant, I was struck by its sophisticated atmosphere, with stylish décor and subtle nods to modern chic - offering an Ivy-themed vibe.

The cocktail menu at 144 On The Hill was both appealing and interesting, as it took you through a journey of when and where each cocktail was made in the world.

Ham & High:

My mum settled on a classic and delicious Cosmo – which we learnt was invented in 1980, by a woman named Cherryl Cook in Miami.

I chose the fizzy and fruity rose gin spritz, which is made up of pink rose gin by Mirabeau, Briottet Liqueur de Rose, fresh lemon, grenadine, and soda water – priced at £13.95.

For starters, my mum chose the almond duck pate - which she claims is the “best starter” she has ever had – this was priced at £12.50, and made up of Porte gel, onion marmalade, redcurrants and comes with brioche.

Ham & High:

I chose the delectable hake fishcake, with was bedded on sorrel, verbena seaweed, and a poached egg – this was priced at £12.

Granted, the prices are high, but the taste really made it worth it – I was pleasantly surprised with the seaweed and would order this again in a heartbeat.

Ham & High:

For my main, I chose the black garlic chicken – which was paired perfectly with sweet potato, artichoke, and spinach – priced at £22.

The chicken was mouth-wateringly tender, and the garlic sauce made the dish flavourful; my mum chose the salmon and prawn linguine, which was creamy, indulgent and the perfect comfort food for rainy days.

Ham & High:

We ended our visit at 144 on the Hill with a bottle of white wine and got lost in conversation while we admired the quirky furniture, such as a huge, feathered lamp, crushed velvet sofas and eye-catching flower displays which were scattered across the restaurant.

Ham & High:

After heading out for the evening – to the world famous Ted Lasso pub which is just a ten-minute walk away – we returned to our delightful room and had a good night’s sleep fit for a king (or queen).

The next day, we were welcomed to a buffet-style breakfast, where we enjoyed a grand selection of fruits, cereal, pastries, and of course, a hearty fry-up.

Ham & High:

My highlight of the breakfast was the selection of muffins that were baked to perfection and looked as pretty as they tasted. The lemon drizzle muffins would give Costa more than a run for its money.

Ham & High: To end our visit at Richmond Hill Hotel, we had to explore Richmond Park, which is a two-minute walk from the hotel and is a serene escape into nature's embrace.

The vast expanse of lush greenery and woodland offers a soothing retreat from the hustle and bustle of London life, and is home to winding paths, ancient forests, and dozens of deer grazing peacefully in their natural habitat.

Overall, my experience at Richmond Hill Hotel and 144 On The Hill exceeded all expectations.

From the luxurious accommodation to the exquisite dining experience, every aspect of my stay was meticulously curated to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment.

Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a weekend retreat, or simply an unforgettable dining experience, it’s a hotel worth every penny.
