A council has been asked why a burnt out car that was abandoned outside a pub took a month to be removed.

The blue Vauxhall Corsa burst into flames outside the Duke of Hamilton pub, in New End, just after 8.30pm on December 8.

After the Ham & High contacted Camden Council on January 4, it removed the vehicle on January 8.

@Lucy__Loo has been tweeting on social media site X since December 9 for the car to be removed.

On December 18 she wrote: "Hi Camden, car still very much in situ on New End. Given it’s not taxed, and it’s illegally parked on a double yellow line, should it now be removed by
@CamdenCouncil ?"

Two days later she appealed again to the council and to the Metropolitan Police.

On January 4, Ed Robson, who runs the pub, said: "It burst into flames right outside the entrance of the pub and we pushed it down the road slightly.

"I don't know how long it has to sit there, it's actually abandoned."

He twice reported the car, which he said had a gas bill on the front seat, to the council.

He added: "I'm curious about what happened, but the main thing is to get it removed."

Camden Council has not explained why there was a delay.
