The four major parties are battling to win Camden Council's only Green council seat.
Candidates have been nominated to contest the seat in Highgate ward where a by-election is due to take place on November 30.
Voters will elect a new councillor after the Green Party's Siân Berry, who is also a London Assembly Member, stepped down on October 20.
Ms Berry had represented the Camden Council ward, which the Greens have held a seat on since 2006, for nine years. The former Green Party leader is hoping to become Brighton Pavilion MP following the retirement of Caroline Russell.
Wakjira Feyesa is the candidate for Conservative Party, Lorna Jane Russell for the Green Party, Trisha Leman for Labour and Farrell Monk for the Liberal Democrats.
The ward, which has three councillors, is highly contested and may turn into a battle between Labour and the Green Party, the latter of which is no longer represented in the council chamber following Ms Berry's resignation.
Wakjira Feyesa said he wants "to be a voice for all of us" with his goal being "to preserve Highgate's wonderful character, ensuring it remains both environmentally friendly and secure".
New to politics, he said he is "eager to contribute" and his "passion in community well being runs deep".
He said: "I've spent my time volunteering and campaigning about community issues, learning the ropes and getting to know the issues that matter most to us.
"I've also been a supporter of many forward-thinking ideas, like being a vegan for over five years and being a member of the Equity union for acntors and staying informed critical issues such as AI," he said.
"I can measure up to the community work of Siân Berry and take it further."
Lorna Jane Russell is hoping to return to the council chamber as an elected Green Party councillor.
She was a Labour councillor for seven years in Fortune Green before defecting to the Greens in October 2021, when she was deputy Mayor of Camden.
Living on the Holly Lodge estate in Highgate, she is currently fighting for neighbours to have roof exits open in the event of a fire, and pushing for fire safety measures.
She said Siân Berry "left a positive mark" on the community that she wishes to continue.
"As a former councillor I look forward to get stuck in and working hard to keep the Green voice in Highgate," she added.
Labour's candidate Tricia Leman is a retired teacher and a long-standing volunteer with the Highgate Society.
She said "putting people first" is what she's about, adding: "We still need many more affordable homes – including the funding to keep them in good repair and new CCTV to help keep people safe, along with neighbourhood police.
"Protecting our environment is a personal mission for me. We must defend our green spaces, plant more trees, and invest in places such as my local park, Waterlow Park."
Farrell Monk, who is standing for the Liberal Democrats, spent his formative years in Highgate and currently lives in the southern part of Camden.
Farrell is an accountant who has held voluntary board roles in several charities, mainly in areas of social mobility and sport.
He is a part time football podcaster and writer, has appeared on television and radio over the course of the past eight years, and is an active campaigner on issues that affect football fans.
