Popular Hampstead cafes were among the eateries with the lowest food hygiene inspection scores in Camden.

Eight establishments were warned by inspectors from the environmental health team in Camden Council that its standards were not up to scratch between August and September.

Wenzel’s the Bakers

Wenzel’s, in West End Lane, West Hampstead, was visited on August 2 and given a 2/5 score, with an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

Specifically the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities needed improvement, while the management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’.

Local Coffee and Grocery

The venue, also in West End Lane, and was scored 0/5 on August 2, with inspectors saying ‘urgent improvement’ was necessary.

Specifically the management of food safety required ‘urgent improvement’, while the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition facilities were rated ‘major improvement necessary’.

The convenience store in West End Lane was visited on August 2 and scored 2/5.

Both the hygienic food handling and management of food safety were ‘generally satisfactory’, but the cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘improvement necessary’.

Le Cozy Lobster Roll and Burger

Operating at a dark kitchen in Regis Road, the place was inspected on August 3 and was scored a 2/5.

The hygienic food handling needed improvement, while the management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’, but the cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘very good’.

84 West Brasserie & Grill

Located in Cricklewood Broadway, the spot was inspected on August 3 and given 0/5, with ‘urgent improvement’ necessary.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities required ‘major improvement’, while the management of food safety required ‘urgent improvement’.

Tree of Life London

Another West End Lane business was given a low score with 1/5 and was told ‘major improvement’ was necessary after a visit on August 7.

The hygienic food handling was ‘generally satisfactory’, but the cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘improvement necessary’ and the management of food safety was told ‘major improvement’ was necessary.

Roni’s Hampstead
 

Roni’s, located in Rosslyn Hill, was given a 0/5 and told ‘urgent improvement’ was necessary after a visit on August 21.

Both the cleanliness and condition of facilities and management of food safety required ‘major improvement’. The hygienic food handling was rated ‘improvement necessary’.
