A New York-style bagel café has temporarily closed just days after its grand opening due to a flooding issue.

It’s Bagels, the idea of fashion and portrait photographer Dan Martensen, first opened its doors on Monday (September 11) in Regents Park Road, Primrose Hill.

The opening has proved to be popular, with large queues of people lining up to take a bite of the new shop during the first two days.

However the café has been forced to temporarily close today (September 13), due to a flood in the basement.

In an announcement on Instagram, It’s Bagels said: “Do not fret, there were no bagels harmed.

“But we want to be sure and give the basement a good clean and allow Thames Water to ensure this won’t happen again.”

It’s expected that the place will reopen on Thursday (September 14) at 10am. The café will be closed on Friday due to a private event but it will be open again as normal from Saturday (September 16) at 7am.

In the Instagram announcement, the café wrote: “The response has been absolutely overwhelming and humbling and we are so grateful for all you bagel freaks out there.”

The space, formerly Primrose Hill Butchers, is designed by New York-based GRT Architects, founded by Tal Schori and Rustam Mehta.
