A man died after he was rescued by firefighters from a flat fire.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to Gayton Crescent in Hampstead shortly after 11.45am yesterday (September 7).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a second-floor flat inside a converted semi-detached house.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two further people were treated for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
The fire was under control just after 12.45pm and left part of the flat damaged by fire.
In total, six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from West Hampstead, Euston and Hendon stations attended the scene.
An LFB spokesperson said that the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
