Hampstead-based comic Ricky Gervais brings his latest stand-up show to Ally Pally for two nights.
The Office and Extras star performs Armageddon tonight (August 21) and again on August 29 at the Muswell Hill venue's Victorian theatre.
A follow up to his previous show SuperNature, the show sees the 62-year-old musing on how the world might end for our narcisstic species. Among other topics, he has a pop at earnest wokeness, freedom of speech, and overuse of the word fascist.
Proudly divisive, Gervais' no-holds-barred humour provokes equal parts hilarity and discomfort, and is suitable for ages 16 and up.
In between the two stand-up dates there's a special open air Bank Holiday party as Notting Hill DJ Norman Jay brings his Good Times soundsystem bus ato Alexandra Palace's terrace.
A firm favourite at the Notting Hill carnival, the soundsystem aboard an iconic Routemaster bus, has brought sunshine and good vibes to partygoers for more than 25 years. On Sunday August 27 it will be parked on the terrace with panoramic views of the London skyline as Jay and friends take punters on a musical journey through house, rare groove, jazz, disco, hip-hop, and drum & bass.
"On 27 August, from Notting Hill to Alexandra Palace, the capital is set to be alive with the sound of summertime," said Jay. "The People’s Palace is an iconic new home for the Soundsystem Bus, and I hope to bring Londoners young and old along for the ride; I can’t wait to see you all on the dancefloor."
The Terrace will boast an array of craft and cocktail bars and street food stalls throughout the day. Capacity for the open-air event is limited so early booking is recommended at alexandrapalace.com/whats-on/good-times/
