A 149-year-old pub has opened its doors to customers again after a month-long renovation.
The North London Tavern in Kilburn High Road reopened this week having closed for refurbishment at the end of June.
The pub said that its brand-new look “perfectly captures that traditional pub vibe but with some contemporary touches”.
One of the pub’s windows was smashed on May 31 and a thousand pounds’ worth of spirits stolen.
Landlord Dean Brent told this paper at the time that he feared the boarded up window would give a false impression of the pub and the “fantastic” people who go there.
He added: "It's Covid and the recession and the cost of living crisis, it's not fair that the pub should pay for damage and theft."
Owner Greene King has since invested in a full-scale interior and exterior transformation of the premises.
New seating in the pub’s outdoor area means that up to 28 punters can now enjoy a drink in the sun.
The bar area has also been refurbished and the addition of a new function room, which can be booked out for special occasions, will allow for 40 additional covers at the venue.
The pub will host open mic nights on Wednesday, a DJ set every Friday and a live music event on Saturday evenings.
The reopening will require new staff, creating 10 new jobs in the area this summer.
Daniel Mintz, general manager of The North London Tavern, said: “We are so thrilled to unveil our brand-new look to the local community.
“The pub perfectly captures that traditional pub vibe but with some contemporary touches.
“The North London Tavern is home to a team of friendly and enthusiastic people, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming back our regulars, the local community, as well as new guests who are yet to visit.”
The North London Tavern is a short walk from both Kilburn and Brondesbury stations and will be open seven days a week from 11am.
