Heavy smoke could be seen and smelt across London after a large house fire that has kept roads shut this morning.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters rushed today (July 21) to a house fire on The Bishops Avenue, commonly referred to as Billionaires' Row.
The brigade were first called to a fire at a three-storey derelict house, where part of the ground floor and first floor were damaged.
According to the London Fire Brigade all of the roof was destroyed by the blaze.
It was under control by 3.26am, with crews from Finchley, West Hampstead Hornsey and other surrounding stations in attendance.
The fire has caused heavy smoke, which could be seen and smelt in other areas of London – including within Central London.
Residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut this morning due to the smoke.
The Bishops Avenue remains closed both ways at 8am due to the fire between Hampstead Lane in Highgate and Lyttelton Road in East Finchley.
During this time the H3 bus route is being diverted.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the London Fire Brigade.
