Alexandra Palace celebrates its 150th year with a summer music line-up that includes Fat Boy Slim, Bastille, and Hot Chip headlining their very own Kaleidoscope Festival.

The birthday celebrations got underway exactly 150 years after the Muswell Hill landmark first opened its doors, with an immersive lightshow for 10,000 fans from electronic music star Four Tet.

And on Saturday May 27 there's a free birthday party with a silent disco, guided tours of the BBC Studios and basement, park walks, a family disco, cinema screenings, and DJ sets from the likes of Mel Blatt and Matt McBriar of Bicep.

The venue was built as 'The People's Palace' to bring entertainment to the masses, and over its 150 years it has hosted seminal moments of entertainment history and trailblazing live music performances, from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Led Zepplin, Bjork, Dizzy Gillespie, and Florence and the Machine.

Run by a charity, Ally Pally continues its mission to offer the best of popular entertainment with over five million people expected to attend more than 250 events and activities at the park this year.

Simon Fell, Alexandra Palace events director said: "To be custodians of Ally Pally is a great feeling. We are proud of how we have developed the spaces across the venue in recent years, so that fans can enjoy such a broad range of live music in some truly amazing environments. This is also reflected in the volume and variety of amazing artists coming to the Palace, and this year is shaping up to be something else. You can feel the history the minute you walk through the door and, as an independent venue, all our profits go back into improving the Park and Palace, so people can enjoy live music here for another 150 years. That’s an exciting thought."
