Councillors are set to vote on the planned development of 1,800 new homes behind the O2 Centre shopping centre.
After hundreds of objections by neighbourhood groups and residents, a discussion will take place later today (March 30) on the plans, submitted by Landsec, to introduce a new neighbourhood on the site of the centre in Finchley Road.
The first phase of the plan would introduce 608 new homes and a community garden on the Sainsbury’s car park.
An outline application on the further phases, which includes the future of the O2 Centre and the potential development of a NHS health centre, shops and “community green” open space, will also be discussed by Camden Council's planning committee.
Both the detailed and outline applications are recommended to be granted "conditional" planning permission by council officers.
But this would only happen after referral to the Mayor of London, the finalising of wording for conditions and the completion of a section 106 legal agreement even if approved by the committee.
