Londoners stripped down to their pants on Sunday (January 8) across the London Underground as part of the No Trousers Tube Ride.

The event sees people ditch their trousers and bare only their pants to mark the occasion organised by The Stiff Upper Lip Society.

This year marked the Tube Ride's first event since 2020 after the pandemic saw the tradition called off, with this year celebrating the event's 10th anniversary.

Londoners stripped down for the No Trousers Tube Ride

Images from the event saw people taking to the Underground wearing Tube-themed pants, using ticket machines and escalators without trousers, and riding the Elizabeth Line half-suited and booted.

Ham & High:

The event first started as part of The No Pants Subway Ride by Improv Everywhere in New York in 2002 and has since become a global event.

The London's Facebook event page instructed participants to gather on the street in “normal winter clothes” before people were sorted into groups to walk to nearby stations where they would then remove their trousers.

Sharing: "For the remainder of the journey, sit in the Tube as you normally would. Read a magazine or whatever you would normally do,”

"You can wear fun underwear if you like, but nothing that screams out, ‘I wore this because I’m doing a silly stunt’. Wear two pairs of underwear if it makes you feel more comfortable. Don’t wear a thong or anything else that might offend people."

On the page, more than 100 people declared they went to the event with photos showing the wide range of characters taking part in the event.
