A Muswell Hill shop has defended charging customers more than £10 a bottle for the popular energy drink Prime.
One mum said she was “despairing” after her 11-year-old son bought the drink without her knowledge at Everbest in Muswell Hill Broadway.
Created by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, Prime energy drinks have been flying off the shelves in UK shops over the last few weeks.
Aldi announced that it would sell the drink in its stores for £1.99 from December 29, and sold out almost immediately.

One frustrated mum, whose 11-year-old son bought the drink at Everbest, said: “I’d told him – ‘no I’m not going to buy you the drink’. Then a week later he said – ‘my friend gave me £10, and I bought one’.
“I had my head in my hands, despairing. It’s just so frustrating.”
When contacted on January 5, Everbest said that a bottle of Prime energy drink costs £11.99 in its shop - a price the mother called "ridiculous".
She added: “If you’re over 18 and making a conscious decision and you’re informed, then fair enough.
“But I tried to talk about it with our son, and he’s still gone out and spent that money.”
Currently there is no law banning the sale of caffeinated drinks, including energy drinks, to under 18s, although most UK supermarkets ban their sale to under 16s.
Everbest said the price reflected the fact it currently costs £10 per bottle to stock the energy drink.
Everbest said that they hoped they would be able to obtain Prime energy drink stock for cheaper in the near future, allowing for a reduction in its in-store price.
