A petition has been launched to ‘save The Salt House’ with fears that it may be turned into flats or offices.

The Salt House, on Abbey Road in St John's Wood, faces an uncertain future after the pub was recently bought. It has been a public house since 1872.

Rosie Holtom lives in the pub with her partner Eduardo Martins. She has started the petition in case the new buyers do apply for change of use of the site to Westminster Council.

More than 800 people have signed the petition so far.

Pub goer Jo Lynn says she is not prepared to see another drinking hole go, if that is the intentions of the developers.

"I've seen every pub in the area go. We don't want to lose the community vibe that makes St John's Wood so special.

The pub is currently owned by Greene King who say they have agreed to sell to a buyer who could look to keep the site as a pub.

A Greene King spokesperson said: "As a leading pub operator and brewer, we are committed to running high quality community pubs. To be able to continue to invest in our estate, from time to time we have to make the difficult decision to sell a pub. After careful consideration, we decided to place the Salt House on the market and have agreed a sale to a private pub investor who we understand is actively looking for a new operator to run the pub."
