VICTORIA Wood and other Highgate residents are expected to attend a protest against the closure of the Highgate Village post office.
The Highgate Society, which is organising the protest, is calling on all residents and business people in the village to come down to the post office in Highgate High Street on Tuesday at 10 am, where they will be invited to sign a huge postcard protesting at the closure.
Liz Morris, vice chairwoman of the society, said: "The post office is a centre for Highgate village life. Closing it would change the character of the High Street and for many people there is no viable alternative. Travelling to other post offices would mean walking over half a mile up and down the steepest hills in London - which is impossible for some older people and an ordeal for parents with young children."
