Bernard Hanison 1.3.1928-12.9.2011 Bernard has died in the North London Hospice. He was a well known restaurateur in Hampstead having started Keats in Downshire Hill. Born in Hackney his working life took many turns from his fathers East End greengrocery to publishing, importing censored books like Ulysses, then on to property development and to dry cleaning, starting Cottontail Cleaners in the Finchley Road, then to bakery businesses. His passions included his widow Brenda, the family with four children (all went to King Alfreds School) and 16 grandchildren & great grandchildren and his chess finally as a grandmaster and Open University champion. His Tuesday night poker game was renowned. He was unique and special, loved life and left a huge impression on anyone who met him.
