A public inquiry will be held to decide the future of Athlone House as owners pursue their bid to demolish the historic mansion.
Yesterday Camden Council confirmed it had been notified of an appeal lodged with the Planning Inspectorate.
It follows the decision last month to refuse planning permission to knock down Athlone House and replace it with a palatial eight-bedroom mansion.
Campaigners fighting to stop the demolition have appealed to residents to make their concerns known to the Planning Inspectorate by the deadline of September 30.
