Local residents were concerned by the Sherlock actor’s home improvement plans.
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is going ahead with plans to renovate his £2.7million Camden mansion despite concerns raised over a noisy boiler.
According to the Mail Online neighbours and council officials had raised concerns that plans for a balcony could overlook adjacent properties, and that a proposed heating system could cause a commotion.
Camden council carried out noise tests on the property and gave the boiler room the all clear.
The council also ruled that the balcony wouldn’t look directly into resident’s windows or be visible from the street and therefore prove unsightly in the conservation area.
Happy days then for Mr Cumberbatch, who purchased the property in April of last year.
The celebrity won’t be moving in with his theatre director and playwright wife Sophie and their son, Christopher, until the work has been completed.
With no risk of a ruckus caused by the boiler he is sure to start on good terms with his neighbours.
His architects Charles Tashmina said in planning documents that they ‘would respect and preserve the original design and proportions of the building, including its architectural period and style.’
They’ve also promised not to chop down a magnolia tree in the back garden.
