Spurs winger Dejan Kulusevski was a surprise guest at a training session for youngsters who want to be professional football coaches.
The session was part of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s half-term activities at the Duke’s Aldridge Academy, next to the stadium.
“I’m happy to see good people working for good things in life,” Kulusevski said afterwards. “I hope they’ll be coaches in the future, helping all levels of players to become better.”
Kulusevski looked in after taking part in a training session at the stadium when he met those taking part in the ‘Spurred 2 Coach’ programme for youngsters who have an interest in coaching.
The programme runs over four days during school half-terms where youngsters complete workbook tasks before putting theory into practice on the pitch.
The foundation’s project co-ordinator, Andre Thomas, said: “Coaching builds young people’s confidence, especially in the Spurs heartlands of north London.
“We’ve recognised the demand for coaches, with the amount of people staying in love with football. But having Deki along was a real endorsement for these young people to inspire others in the community.”
The foundation is helping to pay for aspiring coaches to go on to an FA coaching qualification course.
