Throughout June, Pride Month was celebrated in style across London.

As June draws to a close we would like to thank everyone who joined with forum+ Pride Celebrations. We enjoyed Cooking With Pride, Pride Picnic, LGBTQ tour of Queer Britain, Incite Open Mic, Rainbow Paddlers kayaking and we’re not finished yet with Pride in London to come this Saturday 1st July 1!

The first Pride held in London took place in 1972 and was attended by around 2,000 people. The event, then called UK Gay Pride Rally, was a success with numbers increasing every year as people joined to march together for their rights and in celebration of their culture.

Last year, 1.5 million people attended the 50th Anniversary Parade, whether as part of the procession or watching the action. Organisers say it was the biggest ever crowd to attend the day in London and expectations that even more people will join this year!

Pride in London is always a great day of celebration also a key way to raise awareness of the ongoing issues the LGBTQ community is facing. The campaign theme for this year is ‘Never March Alone’ and it a great rallying call for us to stand united and in solidarity with one another.

forum+ is so excited to be joining Pride in London this Saturday. We will be hosting a brightly coloured and vibrant stall where we’ll celebrate with the community and share information about our social groups and services. If you would like to join with us on the day please email info@forumplus.org.uk

Our commitment at Pride, and always, is to celebrate the achievements, lived experiences and culture of local LGBT people, to collate and share evidence to ensure that LGBT people and our needs are highlighted, and to support victims of homophobic, biphobic or transphobic harassment or hate crime.

LGBTQ+ Pride is not just for June and our special Pride in London day in July, forum+ is proud to celebrate and support our community all year round!
