All traffic on the A2 has been blocked in both directions after concerns for the welfare of a person were raised. 

Kent Highways confirmed on X (formally known as Twitter) that traffic in Hall Road was held as the incident was dealt with.

Officers were called to the scene and the person was located and is now safe. 

The incident has caused congestion to the Bean interchange and Cobham Services, according to AA.

In an update at 12.07pm, Kent Highways added that traffic has been released and that delays are beginning to clear.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Police were called at 10.55am on Thursday 16 May 2024 to a concern for the welfare of a person near Hall Road, Northfleet.

“Officers attended and a road closure was put in place on the A2 while the incident was attended to.

“The person is now safe and the road closure has been lifted.”
